Count the pavers for your pattern
Measure the paved area inside its edging. For one rectangular paver size, enter the face length and width. That divides the ground area by the face area, without allowing for joints. If the maker gives pavers per square foot for the laying pattern, use that figure instead.
Add the extra you want for cuts and breakage. A piece count does not draw a cutting plan or work out the mix in a pack of different sizes.
Base, bedding and joints are different jobs
Enter the base and bedding-sand depths from your installation plan. The paver base calculator turns those layers into tons, with base depths from the paver makers’ guides. The paver cutting allowance does not increase the layer volumes.
Jointing sand fills the gaps between pavers. The polymeric sand calculator counts bags from the area each maker says one bag fills at a given joint width.
Set the path width before buying
Check the outside footprint of nearby beds and the space you need to walk or carry supplies. The path-width guide helps with that decision. For a bed standing on the finished paving, follow the hard-surface growing and drainage guidance.
