Gardener’s Supply Elevated Cedar Raised Beds

Grow in a cedar planter raised on legs, with a slatted floor below the mix. Compare three sizes for the growing space you need.

For an elevated wooden planter

Use potting mix. This planter excludes ordinary garden soil, topsoil, sand, clay and rocks, so those are not substitutes for the fill.

Planning a balcony, deck or roof garden? Have the surface assessed for the filled weight before buying the planter. Its own load rating does not establish what the surface can carry. Prepare a filled-weight record for the assessment.

Choose the size or layout

Use the widest outside footprint to plan paths. For a soil order, measure between the inside walls after assembly and choose your filled depth; advertised dimensions can be rounded. Rectangular sizes below read length × width × height.

Prepare and assemble this bed

Compare the material, bottom and care choices if you are still deciding between families. Follow the site preparation and liner checklist for the supporting surface.

  1. Choose the exact configuration and lay out its parts. Check the required tools in the selected kit instructions.
  2. Prepare a stable, level position and confirm the outside footprint with working paths.
  3. Check floor supports, drains, supplied liner and the chosen leg or caster hardware before filling. Confirm the support beneath the planter for the filled load.
  4. Measure the finished inside and outside separately, then update your plan. Preserve the maker’s fill restrictions.

Mark the outside footprint on the ground before assembly, including any legs or protruding corners. Leave a route for carrying bags, reaching the plants and maintaining nearby beds.

This planter has a floor. Use the intended planting depth, not the height of its legs, to estimate fill. Account for drainage and the filled weight when choosing a level location.

Gardener’s Supply specifies potting mix for this planter and excludes ordinary garden soil, topsoil, sand, clay and rocks.

2 × 4 SKU 12384 assembly manual (03/2026): check the platform supports, floor gaps, supplied fabric liner and corner caps. The manual calls for a Phillips driver/screwdriver, mallet or hammer, and tape measure. Other sizes require their own instructions.
